Visual art plays an extremely important role in the foreign cultural policy of the Federal Republic of Germany as well as enjoying great acclaim throughout the world. German artists have participated in almost every single exhibition since the first international Venice Biennale began in 1895. The long history of Germany’s contributions has never been written down in its entirety.
Therefore, the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa), which has supported the preparation and organization of the German contributions for many years, has now documented the history in this book.
